SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME

The Hunters Point Power Plant has been polluting and killing people slowly for the last 60 years. It uses fossil fuel. I have been saying for years that the carbon monoxide and dangerous particles emitted from Hunters Point Power Plant is the main cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in the Bayview Hunters Point.

The Mayor of San Francisco Gavin Newsom knows about this and has not ordered the San Francisco Health Department to do something urgent about this life-threatening situation. Dr. Rajiv Bathia has not addressed the chronic situation facing thousands of infants and others at Bayview Hunters Point and should be fired. His sidekick Karen Pierce helps him by going with the flow. No one knows what Karen Pierce does working for the San Francisco Health Department but she surely has not been helping the community while purporting to do so.

The San Francisco Chronicle has after all these years written something about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). In San Francisco it only takes some moronic media statement to wake people up. It is time to sue Pacific Gas and Electric for killing so many infants and others slowly over all these years - polluting the environment around the Hunters Point Power Plant. The same can be said of the Mirant Plant by Dog Patch.

San Francisco Environment has stayed away from addressing the real issue of SIDS. Corrupt Literacy for Environmental Justice has got a grant to monitor the air but to date we have not got the empirical data. It is such sell out Community Based Organizations (CBOS) such as LEJ that have failed the community. They get grants in the name of the community and pocket most of it. They do not help the community.

Our infants are dying and it is time the City and County of San Francisco and especially the San Francisco Health Department do something to help the thousands who live in Bayview Hunters Point.

The radiological elements at the Hunters Point Shipyard further worsen the situation at hand. It is a paradox that Lennar BVHP LLC wants to build 1600 housing units in the middle of Chernobyl that is Parcel A on Hunters Point Shipyard.

It is a shame that San Francisco Environment and the Mayor's Office of Economic Development are of the opinion that it is fine to build cheap homes on polluted land that is Hunters Point Shipyard.

It is a shame that the Environmental Protect Agency and other Federal and State Agencies do not care much when people of color die of SIDS. When will these agencies do something to help the people who need their help urgently?
