RAMADAN

Afghanistan is very dear to my heart. So are all Afghans. As we go into Ramadan the world hopes that peace will return to Afghanistan. The women and children of Afghanistan have suffered too much. Now is the time for all civilized nations to help Afghanistan.

The Northern Alliance made up of the Uzbeks, the Tajiks, Hazaras and some Pashtuns will have to make up with the majority tribe Pashtuns from the South. Now, is the time to bring about reconciliation for the good of each and every Afghan.

We must remember that Osama Mohammed bin Laden is NOT an Afghan. Many of his Arab followers are NOT Afghan. Those Afghans under his pay roll mostly Pashtuns now realize they have sided with a person and an entity that has brought misery all around him.

Ramadan is a time of fasting. It is also a time to make peace with Allah.

It is a time to evaluate ones faults and bring about change for the future with goodness. It is a time to purify one's heart, mind, and soul. Ramadan is a good time - it is a period of blessings and hope.

The American people are good. Our President and our people will deliver food, clothes, shelter, medicines to the people of Afghanistan who deserve our help.

In the 1980's our Nation chose to walk away from Afghanistan after the freedom fighters (who we helped) won their war against the Russians. Today, with the Russians, the Germans, the French, the British, the Italians, with the world community - we have promised not to forsake Afghanistan. We have promised to bring hope to Afghanistan.
